The Macaroon Factory Offers French Confections and Gourmet Edibles in Downtown Hollywood

Fine French sweet treats and more are in store at The Macaroon Factory, a charming new bakery and gourmet grocery store in Downtown Hollywood.

Nathalie Charlemagne and her husband Chris, natives of France who relocated to South Florida in July, opened The Macaroon Factory at 1919 Hollywood Boulevard on October 20. The Downtown Hollywood store is their second location. The Charlemagnes launched their new brand July 1 in the Boynton Beach Mall.

Opening two stores in less than four months’ time has been worth the gamble. Customers have been giving rave reviews to The Macaroon Factory’s selection of confections and fine grocery items on display in a black, white and red café setting with cozy sofa, armchair and small-table seating.

“Our customers love the store and the products. They are happy when they come in and even more happy when they taste,” Nathalie Charlemagne said. “We are so happy with this welcome.”

At The Macaroon Factory, quality and creativity come together to produce an array of fine French confections and American pastries, including chocolates, cakes, cupcakes, lollipop-style cake pops, croissants, cookies and its namesake macaroons.

The moist and dense mounded cookie made with shredded coconut is not to be confused with The Macaroon Factory’s signature French macaron, which since the 1500s evolved from a humble almond cookie into a sandwich-like meringue-based confection with a thin, light crust and a silky-smooth filling. The Macaroon Factory prides itself on its macaron recipe that creates some of the best macarons to be found in South Florida, available in a variety of flavors, sizes and hues.

Customers can also special order custom cupcakes, cake pops, themed cakes and wedding cakes, all individual works of art that are as appealing to the eye as they are to the palate.

The Macaroon Factory’s fine groceries department features world-famous French chocolatier Maxim’s de Paris collection of luxury chocolates, cookies, and biscuits, as well as gift baskets, caviar, foie gras, spices, preserves, Nespresso coffee and teas. The full selection can be viewed in the online store at www.themacaroon-factory.com.

The Charlemagnes searched throughout South Florida before deciding on Hollywood’s historic downtown arts, music and entertainment district as the home for The Macaroon Factory’s second location.

“We started our research in December 2015 and after visiting many different South Florida cities, we finally chose Downtown Hollywood because the location is busy, charming and friendly,” Nathalie Charlemagne said. “And we love the Broadwalk and the beach that are not far from the downtown area.”

The Macaroon Factory is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
