Buffalo Exchange Opens First Florida Store in Downtown Hollywood

Resale fashion industry leader Buffalo Exchange, a haven for shoppers seeking new and recycled clothing and accessories at bargain prices, has opened its first Florida store in Downtown Hollywood.

The 3,000-square-foot store at 1916 Hollywood Boulevard, which opened Dec. 17, carries men’s and women’s clothing, including designer fashions, everyday staples, mall brands and one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. Customers can shop for tops, bottoms, jackets, sweaters, handbags, accessories, shoes and jewelry.

Buffalo Exchange also buys or trades gently worn clothing for cash or store credit on the spot. Customers can drop by anytime during store hours, and store buyers will assign a retail price to those items they feel will sell in the store. From that price, the customer receives either a 50 percent in-store credit or 30 percent in cash. Buyers are particularly interested in vintage rock band T-shirts and ’50s dresses, as well as classic jeans and men’s button-down shirts.

Founded in 1974, Buffalo Exchange currently has more than 50 stores in 20 states including New York, Texas, Arizona and California. The Downtown Hollywood store is the company’s first venture into Florida.

“Since opening the first Buffalo Exchange in 1974, we’ve never stopped exploring new areas,” said Buffalo Exchange founder Kerstin Block. “More and more people these days are interested in sustainable alternatives to traditional mall shopping, so we’ve grown a lot in recent years. Our customers love that they can help the community and the environment just by shopping with us.”

In addition to protecting the environment by reusing and recycling clothing, Buffalo Exchange supports the communities it operates in through environmentally conscious practices and programs that support numerous charities and environmental causes.

“We are very excited about having a Buffalo Exchange location in Downtown Hollywood,” said Jorge Camejo, Executive Director of the City of Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). “Their business concept has been wildly successful in other similar commercial districts and attracts creative and conscientious people of all ages. It is easy to understand why Buffalo Exchange chose Downtown Hollywood as their first Florida location.”

Block said the unique character of the historic downtown arts, music and entertainment district is well-suited to the essence of the Buffalo Exchange brand.

“We’ve wanted to expand to Florida for a while now, but location is key,” Block said. “We found Downtown Hollywood to be a true vintage community fitting to Buffalo Exchange as compared to other places that have been developed so much that they have lost their unique sense of place.”

The Downtown Hollywood Buffalo Exchange store is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 954-921-6589, or visit or
