Deborah Blum, owner of Blum Counseling Group located at 1918 Harrison Street, is determined to empower the world, one person at a time.
"I don't like to have long term clients," declared Blum. "We are a solution-based, holistic-based, practice. We understand that mind, body and spirit are connected. We like to think outside the box and provide different modalities and interventions, to guide our patients to be the best version of themselves, and to awaken their potential for greatness."
Blum Counseling Group bills itself as a place for Individual, Couples/Marriage/Relationship and Family Therapy, but Blum explained that they also provide team building for groups and businesses. They strive to create both a trusting relationship, and a comfortable environment with all clients so that healing can begin, and their therapists guide patients to resolve personal, social and psychological difficulties.
In the practice, Blum and her team, Clinical Director/Supervisor Dr. Eht-El Taylor, PhD, and Shuli Lab, a registered mental health counselor intern, provide services for individuals suffering from emotional abuse, mood disorders, grief and loss, domestic violence, trauma, and PTSD, as well as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and substance abuse. They also specialize in Child/Adolescent Behavioral and Emotional Disorders, ADD/ADHD, and the military community and first-responders.
One area that Blum is particularly passionate about is helping children and, teens.
"I see a lot of kids, in dark and negative spaces," said the mother of two toddlers. "My experience is that with the younger generation, there is a lot of social comparison -- they're looking for approval from friends, and their parents, but they're never really accepting themselves."
Blum Counseling Group offers services in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Hebrew. For an appointment and more information about Blum Counseling Group, please call 305-900-7146 or email BlumCounselingGroup@gmail.com.
